My good friends and exceptionally talented jazzists Saltwater Samurai have a new E.P forthcoming on Livid music, 'Trapped In A Megadrive'. The release also comes with a bundle of remixes from the likes of Kwake Bass, Dysrhythmic, and Bambooman. They're also doing a gig The Vortex in Dalston this Friday 2nd March; head down there to check 'em out if you can - their music is marvellous when you experience it live.

Kinetica 2012
I reached the 2012 Kinetica art fair at the weekend, having gone last year for the first time and not wanting to miss this years I very nearly did miss it, only realising it was on a few days before it ended. It didn't disappoint. Interesting experiments with light and movement abound, my favourite piece of the exhibition was 'Fluted Motion' by Christopher Stoneman. Essentially an massive light bulb shaped glass with a light shining down through, it slowly spins on it's axis, its revolutions casting patterns of light on the floor that continually shift. It's feels so peaceful and contemplative, the patterns reminiscent of light reflecting off water.
A close second was the 'Darkstar' installation by practitioners from Slovenia's Museum of Transitionary Art. Frankly anything to do with the Moon is going to interest me, however I thought this piece explored the various phases of our satellite in an way which felt hugely compelling and immersive.

Keepers Of The Light
Keysound Recordings have just confirmed the release of enigmatic bass collective LHF's debut album, due to come out on 2/4/2012. The album is preceded by three Keysound E.P's and the exceptional 'Keepers Of The Light' mix series. I am so so excited about this release, i'll be copping it on the day of release. It's been a long time coming and these guys seem to have an almost endless supply of some of the most unique, forward-thinking and well-produced music around. I posted a few LHF mixes on this blog nearly two years ago, I've been a fan of theirs for ages and if you're a fan of underground bass music, i'd strongly recommend getting this album when it drops. Video for 'Akashic Visions' below.

Tremors
I've just finished a job for the same guys I do the Exposure design for. They've started 'Tremors', a weekly online radio show which incorporates a live visual stream and chat room. I tried to design the Tremors logo to share the visual style I developed for Exposure, as it is very much part of the same brand. Here's a bit of development stuff...

SMUG
Been a while since I posted up any graffiti, to be honest now that 99% of my design practise is digital I don't keep up to date with street art as much as I used to. However a few days ago I rediscovered the work of Glaswegian artist SMUG, who's art has progressed to a level that must be seen to be believed! The has got serious skill with the can - from the pics below it's evident by how well he executes his photorealism, his wildstyle is on point too.
